Oryst Magdij MIRSE
Managing Director
Professional Head of Signalling
A forty year Signalling veteran and hugely respected Engineer in the UK’s rail industry, Oryst is the driving force behind the growth in STME’s successes.
In 1979 Oryst began his railway journey as an Installer for British Rail, moving quickly in Signal Maintenance Testing, becoming a Senior Tech in Rugby and subsequently Watford. In 1995 he became the Signal Section Manager for GTRM, Euston.
When the opportunity presented to become Lionverge S&T’s Depot Manager, Oryst took this role and managed the growth of the Signalling Team to 85 SMTH Testers and 150 Technicians and Installers.
Oryst was headhunted for the role of Signalling Engineer UK, when the High Output Track Renewals system was rolled out in the UK by Babcock Swietelsky. Within three months of taking the post, the methodologies had been realised, a Signalling Team created and the first core shift was delivered. In the following 10 years Oryst developed the project throughout the UK mainland, leading a team of 200 Engineers.
In 2013 Oryst incorporated STME Technical Services to provide specialist Signalling consultancy to the UK rail industry.Â
As Professional Head of Signalling for STME Technical Services Limited, Oryst ensures the highest standards are maintained, underpinning the traction the company continues to develop, with a stable client base, confident in professional service support.
Tim Elliott IEng MIRSE
Director
Signalling Manager
Apprentice trained in Control Systems, Tunnelling Machines and Wind Turbines, Tim made the transition to Rail Signalling in 2000.
Contracting for Lionverge S&T, Tim established a knowledge of many different Signalling assets throughout the UK mainline railway. Working with IAD installing HPSS, S&C became a specialism. Progressing as a Signalling Maintenance Tester, a deep understanding of Signalling systems was developed and maintenance testing became a key focus.
When High Output Track Renewals was introduced to the UK he moved to Babcock Swietelsky, achieving the position of S&T Engineer LNE, managing the HOTR delivery from London to Scotland. This work with Babcock developed a strong contract and commercial understanding. Â
In 2013 Tim incorporated STME Technical Services Limited and undertook consultancy to the UK Rail Industry.
Now focusing on STME Technical Services Limited, Tim leads a team offering the rail industry a uniquely flexible and experienced consulting and operational delivery solution supporting all project GRIP stages.
